Yoga for a fit mum and healthy baby

During this period of constant change, yoga provides a space where expecting and new mothers feel strong, grounded, rejuvenated, and inspired. It’s a complete practice for mothers to build strength and suppleness of the body and mind, but with respect for their bodies and the little passengers they carry on board (or already in their arms!).

Pregnancy Yoga Group Classes

 

Expecting mothers are be guided through an elegant flow of asanas (postures) and pranayama (breathing practices) that help alleviate common ailments such as lower back pain, pelvic girdle pain, sciatica, shortness of breath, and more. These practices also prepare the mind and body for birthing! When the time comes to birth your baby, you’ll find that you’re drawn to use many of the movements, positions, and breathing techniques during your labour. Mats and props provided.
 
Suitable from 13 weeks to birth

 

      • Increased strength, endurance and suppleness of muscles needed for child-birthing (PF benefits beyond pregnancy)
      • Decreased back pain, sciatica, carpal tunnel syndrome, neck/shoulder tension, and more
      • Vital breath practices for labouring and childbirth
      • Better quality of breath and increased oxygen flow to the womb
      • Improved sleep
      • Meditation and deep relaxation to prepare the mind as well as the body for birth
      • Suitable for practitioners of all levels (including beginners!)

Postnatal Recovery Yoga Group Classes

 

A rejuvenating practice focused on healing the mother’s body by safely rebuilding the pelvic floor and abdominal muscles, realigning the spine, and developing stamina and strength. Plus, meet new mums and babies!
 

Suitable for new mothers following their 6 week check to when baby is walking.

 

      • Safely rebuild the pelvic floor and abdominal muscles
      • Regain suppleness of the spine and body
      • Breathe deep to help manage stress and calm the nervous system
      • Find renewed strength and stamina
      • Suitable for practitioners of all levels (including first-timers!)

Elisa offers personalised pregnancy yoga sessions tailored to meet your specific needs and goals at all stages of pregnancy and postnatal recovery, providing a safe way to get fit while nurturing a more enjoyable pregnancy, labour, and recovery. Private sessions are held at private home studio in Islington, or conveniently in your home or office. Mobile sessions have an additional travel fee depending on the distance (please enquire).
