Love Yourself First

They say, “Before you can love someone, you must first love yourself.”
 We spend a lot of time wishing to ‘get away,’ but more often than not what we really need is to come home to ourselves. Yoga provides that time and space for self-exploration. Yoga asana (postures) is a very physical practice, but it also forces us to step away from everything else going on in our world. On the island of our yoga mat, we can then be present with the self, observing without judgement, and ultimately treating ourselves with the loving kindness that we deserve. From the mat, that practice can then grow out into the rest of the world. We become more present and love more fully.
All too often we fall at the bottom of our own priority list. Whether its yoga or something else, be sure to treat yourself this Valentine’s and throughout the year.
